| | Write On! Summer Writing Camp 2010 | | Who | Write On! For
Literacy founder Dallas Woodburn is teaching a summer writing camp for
youth ages 8-18. Poets, playwrights, short-story writers, novelists –
all are encouraged and welcome to join!
| | When | Two consecutive weekends: July 10th & 11th, 17th & 18th Choose either Morning Session (10 a.m.-noon) or Afternoon Session (1-3 p.m.)
| | Where | The conference room at Jensen Design and Survey at 1672 Donlon Street in Ventura, California.

will not only have FUN, they will also learn how to improve central
components of their writing, including dialogue, characterization, plot
and setting, through various creativity-inducing writing exercises.

Teaching experience:
- Taught Write On! Summer Writing Camp the past two years to great success.
- Workshop instructor and coordinator of the Young Writers Program of the Santa Barbara Writers Conference for three years.
- Online workshop instructor in short-story writing at the (now-defunct) website absynthemuse.com.
- Teacher of private writing workshops for the past four years.
- Guest speaker at the Jack London Writers Camp in San Jose.
- Frequently visit schools, ranging from elementary school to high school, as a guest speaker and teacher of creative writing workshops.
Writing experience:- Published first book, a collection of short stories and poems titled There's a Huge Pimple On My Nose, at age ten; it received a glowing review in the Los Angeles Times and has now sold more than 2,400 copies nationwide.
- Second collection of stories, 3 a.m., was featured on the nationally syndicated PBS book talk show "Between the Lines" with Barry Kibrick.
- Signed a
contract with the highly regarded literary agency Foundry + Media to represent
first novel to publishers.
- Short fiction has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize and has appeared in numerous literary magazines.
- Nonfiction has appeared in dozens of national publications, including Family Circle, Writer's Digest, The Writer, Cicada, Justine, Listen, and eight Chicken Soup for the Soul anthologies.
- Plays have been produced in Los Angeles and in Ventura, California.
- Graduated from the University of Southern California in 2009 with a B.A. in Creative Writing; this fall, will enter the Master's (M.F.A.) Program in Fiction Writing at Purdue University.
